SAFA Awards

SAFA ‘FIRST’ Award

This award has been suspended for the 2023-24 academic year.

This award is presented to a member of SAIT management (Coordinator, Manager, or Academic Chair). The nominator (a SAFA member) will submit in writing a short paragraph that highlights how the nominee has met all 5 of SAIT’s Ethics F.I.R.S.T. principles in their interactions with faculty members:

  • Fairness
  • Integrity
  • Respect
  • Safety
  • Transparency

The winner will receive a recognition plaque from the SAFA office.


SAFA Dependent Scholarship (Apply DIRECT to SAFA Office)

This scholarship (one per calendar year) is offered by the SAIT Academic Faculty Association for the dependents of SAFA members who are currently enrolled in a full time program with a recognized University, College, or Technical Institute.  Deadline is in the Fall.  Application requirements:

  1. applicant must be a direct dependent of a current or past SAFA member;
  2. cover letter about the applicant (please include leadership qualities, GPA, community involvement, financial need, other awards, tuition costs and other information deemed appropriate);
  3. proof of Post Secondary acceptance/full time enrollment;
  4. completed SAFA Student Awards Application;
  5. Two letters of Reference
  6. recent transcripts from High School or Post Secondary Institution

SCHOLARSHIPS

SAFA Promising Futures (apply through MySAIT.ca)

This scholarship (one per calendar year) is offered by the SAIT Academic Faculty Association to Apprentices in their Second period or higher of any apprentice program.  It is based on academic achievement.  Application requirements:

  1. essay outlining how you have improved as a student while in the program;
  2. copy of apprentice marks must be submitted to Alumni & Development, MA113
  3. Deadline is in the Spring

SAFA Scholarship (apply through MySAIT.ca)

This scholarship (one per calendar year) is offered by the SAIT Academic Faculty Association to second year students of a diploma, applied degree or degree program.  It is based on financial need, academic achievement (minimum GPA 2.50), and participation in extracurricular activities.  Preference given to dependents of SAFA members (please identify). Deadline is in the Fall.

Chef Ray Gauthier Memorial (apply through MySAIT.ca)

This scholarship (one per calendar year) is offered to the most improved second year student in Professional Cooking.  Must have leadership or volunteerism within SAIT, SAITSA or the overall community. Deadline is in the Fall.
