Benefits Reinstated for Members over Age 65
Did you know? As of July 1, 2022, SAIT re-instated benefits for SAFA members who are 65 or older. The benefits include:
- Extended health care, dental, spending accounts, and sick leave coverages which remain in place until you leave SAIT or retire.
- Vacation will continue to accrue as per the Collective Agreement.
- Life Insurance and Accidental Death Insurance remain in place until age 70.
- Optional Critical Illness insurance may stay in place until age 75.
- LAPP contributes will continue until you have 35 years of service or reach age 71.
When you leave SAIT, you may be able to convert some of these coverages into private plans. Long Term Disability (LTD) coverage still ends 120 days before your 65th birthday. Additional information on this topic is available on the SAITNOW Working Beyond Age 65 page.
SAFA’s 40th Anniversary Party
Folks had a grand time at the SAFA party last Friday! Over 250 members attended the dinner held in MacDonald Hall. We’d like to thank Doug Waite, Dwight Maki, John Dodd, and the folk-dance group Zabava (Irina Derevyanko, Natalia Ashe, Irina Koutaitseva, and Valentina Lev) for their wonderful performances at the event.
