October 31st: Update to Membership
Bargaining Prep in Full Swing
Your SAFA/SAIT Collective Agreement ends June 30, 2024. As such, your bargaining team (Jessica Norman, Amir Fard, Earl Simpson, and Craig Coolahan) is hard at work, preparing for this upcoming round of bargaining.
Your voice matters – The bargaining team relies heavily on the membership to develop the proposals that will be tabled at the first round of bargaining. The primary way to gather this information is through a membership survey.
SAFA will be emailing a survey to all its members at their SAIT email addresses in mid-November. We are looking for you to share your priorities for bargaining and for your future world of work at SAIT. We want to know what’s working in the CA and what’s not. How you are finding your work/life balance, and your ability to manage your workload. And, of course, we want to know your opinion on what a fair wage increase would be in these inflationary times.
This survey is not the only way to provide SAFA with your priorities. You can email the office at any time or pick up the phone. SAFA will also be holding a town hall for its members prior to bargaining.
Keep an eye out for the survey in the next few weeks – you will have two weeks to submit your information. In the meantime, start thinking about what should be in the collective agreement that can help you do your job better. After all, our working conditions are student learning conditions.
Also, if you haven’t done so already, make sure that the SAFA office has your personal email, as this will be the only way that SAFA will be able to contact you should job action occur.
