The SAFA Mandate<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In accordance with Alberta\u2019s Post-Secondary Learning Act<\/a> (PSLA) and as a trade union under Alberta\u2019s Labour Relations Code,<\/a> the SAFA\u2019s core mandate is to negotiate the Collective Agreement and resolve alleged contraventions of the Agreement through the grievance process. The Association also assists with representation to address individual concerns, counseling and informal grievance resolution when necessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Additionally, as mandated by its members through the Association\u2019s Bylaws, SAFA is an organization that preserves and improves our members\u2019 employment conditions in areas such as educational development, academic freedom, and professional development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The SAIT faculty members are ultimately responsible for offering instruction that has made SAIT the institution of choice for learners in fields as diverse as apprenticeship training, technologies, business, health sciences, communication and hospitality fields and industries.
