You have Rights!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a>Dear Classroom Instructors \u2013<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Does the phrase workload assignment fill you with dread? Are the workload hours not realistic for the actual work you do?&nbsp;&nbsp; Do you feel that info is missing from the assignments you receive? Don\u2019t accept this as the status quo\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/safacalgary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/You-Have-Power.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9523\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Never forget that you now have power to impact your Workload assignment. You have a clear process to <a href=\"https:\/\/app.smartsheet.com\/b\/form\/03e388f4b21f478a81113bf147c7a468\">file a complaint<\/a> if:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You were not given your workload assignment at least 4 work weeks before the start of that assignment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your workload assignment does not contain the minimum information including CCH, course name\/number, and instruction mode.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You feel that the Academic Chair did not consider the number of new course preps you have been assigned.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You feel that the Academic Chair did not reduce the workload when the number of students in a section increased.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You feel the Academic Chair did not leave sufficient time for professional duties, curriculum development, or scholarly activity that\u2019s been assigned to you.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/safacalgary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/You-Can-Take-Action.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9524\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The full workload guidelines that must be followed are available on <a href=\"https:\/\/saitnow.ca\/form\/faculty-workload-guidelines\/\">SAITNow<\/a>. Don\u2019t forget, though, that there are timelines to follow.&nbsp; <strong>Once you\u2019ve received a workload assignment, you only have 5 working days to submit concerns to your Academic Chair.<\/strong> Questions about the process? The last increase is set to be announced in February 2024 (retroactive to December 1<sup>st<\/sup>, 2023), based on a \u201cGain Sharing Formula\u201d.&nbsp; The salary schedules (Section 50) and the \u201cGain Sharing Formula\u201d (Section 2) can be found in our current <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sait.ca\/about-sait\/administration\/work-at-sait\/why-sait\/safa-collective-agreement#section-2\">Collective Agreement<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Is Your Workload Unfair?
