SAFA Membership Update: September 24th

Know Your Collective Agreement: The Salary Grid

Did you know that SAFA has three different salary grids in our Collective Agreement?  See Section 50 for the faculty, educational counsellors, and librarians grids.

October is a good time to do a review of the salary grids, since many members will advance one increment on their grid on October 1st.  Members advance on their salary grid so long as:

•    They currently hold a Permanent Salaried, Temporary Salaried, or Casual employment position.

•    They were first hired before July 1st, 2024, and have been continuously employed since that time (i.e., Casual and Temp Salaried folks have previous contracts of those types.)  Members hired into their first qualifying position on or after July 1st, 2024, will receive their first grid step increase next October 2025.

•    They have not already reached the maximum increment on the grid.

If you are unsure of your current assignment on the grid, review MySAIT> MyEmployee > Jobs Summary > Position Title page for that information.

SAFA members who hold an Adjunct position should review their employment contract for their rate of pay, as these positions are not on a salary grid. All members should contact Employee Services if they have questions about their rate of pay.

In Solidarity,

Craig Coolahan
