Introducing Danny de Castro
SAFA Position: Division III Table Officer
Schools Represented: School of Hospitality & Tourism, School of Business
My name is Danny de Castro, and I am your newly elected Division III Table Officer for the School of Business, Hospitality, and Tourism. I previously served on the SAFA Executive Council from 2025 to 2026 and have been a member of the Joint Faculty Workload Monitoring Group since 2022.
In August, I transitioned into the role of Emerging Technologies and AI Librarian at the Reg Erhardt Library. Prior to that, I was a full-time instructor in the Library Information Technology Program within the School of Business and ICT for more than a decade.
At home, I am a single parent to my five-year-old daughter. In my spare time, I enjoy tabletop gaming and going to the gym.

September 30th is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
SAFA will be marking September 30th, National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, as a day of awareness and reflection on the realities of indigenous history in our country. The day honours the children who never returned home and the survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities.
Public commemoration of the tragic and painful history and ongoing impacts of residential schools is a vital component of the reconciliation process. For ongoing opportunities to reflect and contribute to reconciliation, please visit the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation website the week of September 21st – 25th for daily lunch & learn webinars, or attend SAIT’s Truth and Reconciliation Event Series from September 21st – 29th.
