March 6th: Update to Membership
Pay Raise to Come into Effect April 1st
Make sure to check your mid-month paystub in April to ensure you have received your 1.25% pay increase. This raise applies to all full and part-time permanent salaried, temporary salaried, and casual academic staff members. This is the first of three potential pay increases bargained for in the last round of negotiations. The next one will be December 1, 2023, of 1.5% and then potentially an additional .50% retroactive to December 1, 2023 payable in February or March of 2024, subject to the “Gain Sharing Formula”. The salary schedules and the “Gain Sharing Formula” can be found in the current Collective Agreement.
ACIFA Conference Registration Closes at End of the Month
Why attend the ACIFA Conference? Past attendees say:
What I like most about the ACIFA conference is that we get to hear from educators from Alberta who likely have similar positions to our own. I’ve made contacts with other educators in similar roles as my own and have kept in touch with them over the years. We’ve been able to share ideas and new educational tools. – Mary Marier, Instructor, School of Business
I highly recommend it for SAFA members regardless of how long someone has instructed or what their area of expertise is. The networking, camaraderie, and sense of community (especially now) was very memorable. The conference itself was well organized, inclusive, and relevant. – Michelle LeGrandeur, Instructor, School of Health & Public Safety
The ACIFA conference will be held at Lake Louise from May 7 – 9. SAFA will subsidize up to 30 members to attend the conference – please see the attached document or contact [email protected] for registration details. Registration paperwork is due by April 1, 2023.
