Prep Time
Preparation time –a.k.a – prep-time: is language that has never been present in our Collective Agreement.
The Work Load Study Committee (WLSC) worked indeterminably to achieve a consensus on the ‘identification’ of Prep-time. Although discussions on the definition for Prep-time were intense, regrettably a Quantitative answer was not forthcoming. Thus the Employers ability to force accountability for prep-time would be extraneous.
The significance of the specific language in 36.02 /36.05 / 36.06 /36.09 /36.10 b) and c) 36.11 b) and c) /36.12 a) has far reaching implications and more importance than speculating if the auxiliary verbs, “May” and “Shall” will influence the decision making of a faculty Instructor.

These statements endorsed by the Employer and the Association substantiate the commitment from both groups to work towards a common goal of transparency, respect and collegiality.
The Ratification of “The letters of Understanding “, will not change the lives of instructors here at SAIT overnight. However, they are stepping stones in the right direction by which the Association can shape and influence discussions during the 2017 negotiations.
All faculty members are entitled to express their opinions concerning the LOU through the voting process. It is the Associations belief that all Faculty members will deliberate on the information provided to them and vote according to their personal convictions.
