Coping with Change at SAIT: Support Is Available, and So Is SAFA

In a recent SAITNow article, SAIT shared several LinkedIn Learning videos to support employees navigating “ongoing changes” at our institution. There was also a reminder that salaried employees can access confidential counselling through the Employee and Family Assistance Program, and all employees have access to reduced cost mental health supports through GreenShield+. (Links in the SAITNow article.)

Recent changes at SAIT – including position abolishments, increased class sizes, and restructuring across departments and schools – are having real impacts on workload, morale, and overall well-being.   While SAFA appreciates the employer for providing individual supports and resources, it’s important to recognize that managing these impacts shouldn’t fall solely on individuals – especially when the strain is being driven by workplace conditions. If you’re feeling burnt out or overloaded, whether through teaching demands, project work, or both, reach out to SAFA. We’re here to support you and to raise these concerns at a broader level.

In solidarity,

Craig Coolahan
