SAFA will commence bargaining with SAIT for a renewed Collective Agreement in February 2021
Dear Colleagues:
SAFA will commence bargaining with SAIT for a renewed Collective Agreement in February 2021. As you know, the collective agreement defines the employment terms and conditions for academic staff at SAIT, as well as the rights, privileges, and duties of the Association, Employer, and Faculty. This will be an important round of bargaining as we strive to update our Collective Agreement to reflect the changing realities of post-secondary education.
In preparing for bargaining, your Negotiating Committee looked to membership for input on a range of issues. We thank everyone who participated in the various SAFA surveys and townhalls that were held this fall. That information formed the basis for our bargaining mandate, which supports the core priorities of faculty while ensuring fair compensation. This mandate will serve as a roadmap for the bargaining team as it develops the Association’s initial proposal for presentation to SAIT, as well as a guide during the collective bargaining process.
Please take a moment and watch this video that reviews SAFA’s new bargaining mandate. If you have any questions or comments, please direct them to: [email protected]
In Solidarity,
Al Brown,
SAFA Labour Relations Officer / Chief Negotiator 2020 Negotiating Committee.
