Negotiations

The SAFA/SAIT Collective Agreement ended on June 30, 2024. As such, your Negotiating Committee is hard at work at the bargaining table with our employer. Detailed information about bargaining is restricted to SAFA Members who can access this content on our Members-only Portal.

The Negotiating Committee represents the SAIT Academic Faculty Association to the Board of Governors during negotiations of the Collective Agreement.  The Members of the Negotiating Committee are appointed by the Executive Council, and the Chairperson is elected by members of the committee.   The Negotiating Committee must:

  • consult with and take instruction from the Executive Board on all matters of negotiating policy;
  • regularly consult with and take instruction from the Executive Board as to general strategy and response in principle to proposals from the BGSAIT;
  • consult with Membership for the bargaining proposals to be exchanged with the BGSAIT at a General or Special Meeting, on or before February 1 of the negotiating year;
  • present proposed collective agreement language to the Executive Board for approval.

    See the SAFA Bylaws, section 10.01.04 for additional information.
