Adjunct Contract Salary Range
Hello Colleagues:
There is a common misconception with Faculty that the Adjunct Instructor salary range is capped at $80 per hour. It is true that the Letter of Understanding pertaining to Adjunct Instructors contains a salary scale from $15.60 to $80 per hour, however it also contains a list of conditions that would warrant or allow the $80 per hour to be exceeded.
- No adjunct instructor shall be paid more than $80.00 per hour unless approval is granted from the Vice President Academic, or designate, using the following conditions:
- Qualifications and mastery of skill warrants a higher rate of pay
- Labour market influence
- Industry market influences
- Unique or special skill set
In addition, there is a requirement that, on a quarterly basis, SAIT and the Association review the adjunct contracts that exceed to $80 maximum hourly rate.
I have attached a list of the range and numbers of adjunct contracts that exceed the $80 hourly maximum on a school by school basis for your information.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
In Solidarity,
