Advanced Education COVID-19 Update – September 3, 2021
Alberta’s government announced today that Alberta is taking temporary measured steps to reduce current rates of COVID-19 transmission and prevent the health care system from being overwhelmed. These temporary measures come into effect September 4 at 8 am.
Information on the temporary measures are available on the Government of Alberta website. https://www.alberta.ca/covid-19-public-health-actions.aspx Please use this resource to determine how they affect your operations.
Similar to the K-12 system, there is a focus on continuing with in-person delivery of classes. Employees who do not need to be present for in-person delivery of classes are encouraged to work from home. The post secondary system in Alberta has implemented COVID-19 management policies that address the requirements of today’s announcement. Effective Sept. 4 at 8 am, masks are mandatory in all indoor public spaces and workplaces and employees must mask in all indoor work settings, except in work stations. In addition, alcohol service must end at 10 p.m. in all licensed establishments.
Vaccines continue to be our best defence to beat COVID-19. All eligible Albertans are encouraged to get vaccinated. A one-time incentive of $100 is now available for all Albertans 18+ who receive a first or second dose between September 3 and October 14. Thank you for your continued efforts in promoting vaccine uptake.
